Across the Rockies Pledge Page

Please help us fight global warming by pledging to reduce your consumption of fossil fuels! Through your help, our project can meet its goal of a 100,000 gallon reduction in gasoline consumption in the year following our trip. All it takes from you is a willingness to try something new.

Here's how our pledge drive works. By keeping track of the "before" gas mileage, the "after"/alternative gas mileage, and the average distance that a person travels, we can calculate and compile gasoline savings. This way, we can quantify our efforts to facilitate a transportation change by looking solely at the amount of gasoline saved. Please not that your pledge will not be reflected in the totals instantly, but the totals are updated as frequently as possible.

We hope to find a group to match our pledges with other conservation services (such as planting trees or generating renewable energy). Please contact us if you are willing to match pledges in any way! This being said, there are simple things that can be done everyday by ordinary people to save both money and the environment.

Below are a few suggestions to get you started, check the Resources page for more ideas.

-Bike to work and to run your errands instead of driving
-Use a bike trailer to haul groceries, books, children, etc.
-Carpool/Carshare
-Patronize local stores that you can walk or bike to
-Get takeout instead of delivery and walk or bike to pick it up
-Buy a more fuel effecient vehicle (electric car, bicycle, new shoes)
-Tell a friend to make a pledge!

In the weeks and months after you've pledged, consider posting to our Pledge Blog! Here you can tell the world about the troubles and triumphs you've had fulfilling your pledge.
